Dr. Temidayo Oniosun is a Nigerian climate-tech entrepreneur and space scientist. As the founder of Climate in Africa, he is leading efforts to provide hyper-local, actionable climate intelligence tailored specifically for the African continent. He earned a degree in meteorology at the Federal University of Technology Akure and then a master’s degree in satellite applications from the University of Strathclyde in the UK. He completed his PhD at the University of Delaware, where his research focused on the political economy of space development in Africa.
Dr. Oniosun is also the founder of Space in Africa, a research and consulting firm that has become a key source of data and insight for the continent’s growing space and satellite sector. His work has contributed to major continental initiatives, including the establishment of the African Space Agency.
His expertise has been recognized by institutions such as the World Economic Forum, where he serves on the Global Future Council on Space Technologies, and by the Atlantic Council, where he is a nonresident senior fellow. A 2020 Karman Fellow and Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 honoree, his commentary is regularly featured on CNN, BBC, CNBC, Forbes, and Al Jazeera.
Yet, despite his global presence, his impact remains deeply rooted in local transformation. He has launched community initiatives in Oyo State, including scholarships, youth mentorship programs, and a rural ICT center powered by Starlink internet. His investment portfolio spans over 40 early-stage African startups, with a focus on climate tech, logistics, and data services.
Through Climate in Africa, he brings together his background in environmental science, satellite data, and analytics to support data-driven approaches to climate resilience across the continent.
